Tell us about your London home project

Greg Mathers and Daniela Ciarcelluti of Studio CMA discussing a London home project in their architecture studio.

If you are planning a renovation, extension, retrofit or interiors project, the best place to start is a short conversation.

We offer a free initial video call of up to 30 minutes to understand your project, see whether Studio CMA is likely to be the right fit and suggest the most useful next step.

You do not need to know exactly which service you need before getting in touch. Tell us a little about your home, what you are hoping to improve and where you are in the process.

Start by completing the short project enquiry form below.

Planning a meaningful change to your home?

Studio CMA works with London homeowners improving period and existing homes through thoughtful architecture, sensitive retrofit, architectural interiors, natural materials and low-energy design.

You may be planning:

  • a renovation or whole-home reconfiguration

  • an extension that improves the way the whole house works

  • a retrofit or low-energy upgrade

  • a kitchen, bathroom, joinery or interiors project needing architectural thinking

  • early feasibility advice before committing to design or construction

  • a phased improvement where the right route is not yet clear

If your home feels cold, dark, awkward, disconnected, difficult to heat or no longer suited to daily life, we can help you understand the next sensible step.

If you are not sure which route is right, you can explore our architecture services or start by telling us about your project.

What the Discovery Call is

The Discovery Call is an initial fit and direction conversation.

It is a chance to talk through your project, understand your goals and constraints, and decide whether Studio CMA is likely to be the right practice to help.

On the call, we may discuss:

  • what you want to improve

  • the type, age and condition of the property

  • whether the project sounds like a renovation, extension, retrofit, interiors project or early appraisal

  • broad budget and timing expectations

  • whether planning, conservation or construction constraints may shape the route

  • which Studio CMA service may be the most appropriate next step

The aim is not to solve the project in one call. The aim is to help you understand where to start.

What the Discovery Call is not

The Discovery Call is not a design review, feasibility study, cost plan, retrofit assessment or detailed project consultation.

If your project needs that level of advice, we will usually recommend a paid next step. That may be an Architect’s Home Visit and Appraisal, a Retrofit Strategy, Retrofit Architectural Services, Full Architectural Service or Architectural Interiors support, depending on the project.

This keeps the first conversation useful, focused and proportionate.

What happens after you enquire

After you send us your project details, we will review the information and let you know the most useful next step.

For many suitable projects, we will arrange a Discovery Call and send you a booking link.

After the call, we may recommend:

  • Architect’s Home Visit and Appraisal, if the type, scope, feasibility, budget or route still needs to be clarified

  • Retrofit Strategy, if the project is retrofit-led and the direction, ambition, phasing, options and risks need defining

  • Retrofit Architectural Services, if the retrofit route is already defined and you need follow-on design development, specification, coordination or builder-ready information

  • Full Architectural Service, if the project is a larger renovation, extension, reconfiguration or whole-home project needing a fuller design and delivery process

  • Architectural Interiors, if the project centres on kitchens, bathrooms, joinery, storage, lighting, material choices or room-by-room coherence

If Studio CMA is not likely to be the right fit, we will try to point you towards a more appropriate route where we can.

Who we are best suited to

Studio CMA is best suited to London homeowners planning meaningful changes to period or existing homes, where careful early thinking will make a material difference to the outcome.

We are often a good fit if you want to:

  • improve a Victorian, Edwardian, interwar or other existing London home

  • make your home warmer, quieter, healthier and less wasteful to run

  • extend or reorganise the space without making piecemeal decisions

  • use natural materials where they support comfort, durability and the character of the building

  • create calmer, more coherent interiors with better storage, lighting and materials

  • understand planning, budget, retrofit, construction and design decisions before committing to major work

We work mainly with homeowners across East and North London, including Hackney, Islington, Dalston, Canonbury, Barnsbury and London Fields, and also consider suitable projects across London.

Tell us about your project

Please share as much context as you can. You do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch, but the more we understand, the more useful the next conversation can be.

Once we have reviewed the details, we will let you know whether Studio CMA is likely to be the right fit and suggest the most useful next step.
